Suzanne LaFrance grew up in Palmer, Alaska and has lived in South Anchorage since 1997. She and her husband, Dave Hemstreet, have three children, ages 13, 11 and 9, who attend neighborhood schools.

Suzanne earned a Bachelor's degree from the University of Portland and a Master's degree from Purdue University. She has worked in telecommunications for the last 18 years in the areas of marketing, strategic planning, finance and management.

A former college soccer player, she coached and played soccer for many years and also played adult hockey. Through the years she has volunteered with the Alaska Literacy Center, Special Olympics and Hospice. Suzanne is active in PTA and Great Alaska Schools, and she and her family enjoy downhill skiing, skating and hiking.

Suzanne was elected to the Anchorage Assembly in 2017 and has served as Vice Chair - Assembly, Co-Chair - Budget and Finance Committee, Co-Chair - Enterprise and Utility Oversight Committee, Co-Chair - Health Policy Committee, Municipal Audit Committee, Personnel Committee, Public Safety Committee, Rules Committee, Alternate Liaison - Alaska Municipal League, and Alternate Liaison - Youth Advisory Commission.
